Call for papers: 11th CIRP conference on CAT (Computer Aided Tolerancing)
Geometric Variations within Product Live-Cycle Management
Thursday 15 May 2008 , Sandrine Beaujon

The CIRP (International Academy for Production Engineering) organizes every two years a seminar on the computer-aided tolerancing. In 2009, this CAT seminar becomes the CIRP CAT international conference. The control of the geometrical quality is essential in all the Product Life Cycle.

The necessity of optimizing design and manufacturing processes, saving the material and the energy, guaranteeing the safety, respecting functional constraints always more numerous imposes an increased rigour in the control process of the products geometrical quality.

The actual research in the field of tolerancing are focused on the modelling for the calculation of 3D specifications, or on the processes of production and inspection. We should not forget that these various aspects are connected and impose a global vision of the “chain of the geometrical quality” in the PLM.

The previous conferences have allowed to show the advances in these various domains and their applications for systems of Computer Aided Tolerancing. This CAT conference will try to extend those preoccupations to the entire product life cycle.

General theme: Geometric Variations within Product Life-cycle Management Specification and Standard GPS standards tolerance specification Data tolerancing management Specification uncertainty E-learning and training Tolerancing in design and manufacturing process Tolerancing in the PLM Tolerancing management in design process Statistical tolerancing in design and manufacturing process Tolerancing for assembly modelling, analysis and synthesis Tolerancing for flexible parts Tolerancing in process planning Simulation of manufacturing uncertainty Tolerancing for disassembly and recycling Micro and nano tolerancing Metrology and control in life-cycle management Modelling and measuring geometrical deviations Measurement uncertainty Measurement of gap width, non rigid parts, form defect Statistical quality control Perceived quality
