samedi 22 janvier 2011 , Sandrine Beaujon

Are you a PLM researcher or professional ? Did you register already for participation in the PLM11 8th International Conference on Product Lifecycle Management at *Eindhoven* University of Technology, The Netherlands, *11^th -13^th July 2011*. If not, look at www.plm-conference.org and consider to participate.

The PLM11 conference is the global meeting point for research in PLM. Scientists from all over the world present their ideas to improve the industrial and societal effects of PLM.  Keynote speakers from influential research institutes like

*Erastos Filos,* head of sector "Intelligent Manufacturing Systems" of the European Commission ,

*Bertrand Braunsweig*, program manager at Agence Nationale de Recherche de France (ANR) and *Vijay Srinivasan*, head of the Manufacturing Systems Integration*

*Division at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in the USA will discuss the position of PLM in their research programs.

Monday and Wednesday are devoted to scientific *keynotes* and *paper presentations *(http://www.plm-conference.org/program.php).

Tuesday is the *industrial day *where *executives* from strategic development positions from important PLM vendors (*Martien Merks*, senior VP at Siemens PLM, *Rupert Deger*, senior VP at PTC and *Jacques Kurkdjian*, World wide Strategic Account Director at Dassault) present their vision on the future developments in PLM and the kind of problems that science should solve. Senior PLM executives from leading industries in the Eindhoven area (*DAF, Philips* and *ASML*) will give their vision on the future needs for PLM in their industry. Tuesday afternoon is dedicated to presentations on PLM applications in different industries. The day will be completed with a visit to the* High Tech Automotive Campus* and the conference dinner.

Wednesday afternoon there will be industrial visits.

The PLM11 conference is the yearly conference of *IFIP* (International Federation of Information Processing) Working Group 5.1 on "*Global Product Development for the whole Lifecycle*". Previous conferences have been held in *Bangalore**, Lyon, Bergamo Seoul, Bath *and* Bremen*.

Eindhoven and it environment is called *Brainport*, because of the concentration of high tech industries. This Brainport has been elected as the world’s *Intelligent Community* of the Year 2011. The Intelligent Community Forum (ICF) chose Eindhoven out of more than 300 regions. This makes Eindhoven an excellent venue for a conference on an innovation driving technology like PLM.

Since it would be a pity to visit the Netherlands without seeing the unique city of *Amsterdam*, we offer an optional guided tour to show some of the nicest places in Amsterdam on Thursday july 14.

I cordially invite you to participate in the PLM11 conference and hope to welcome you in Eindhoven,

Henk Jan Pels

Eindhoven University of Technology,
