Reminder for PLM10 - Special session on Asset Information Management
vendredi 18 décembre 2009 , Sandrine Beaujon

*Subject :* PLM10 - Special session on Asset Information Management

PLM2010

*_Special session on “Asset Information Management”_*

*/Sessions Chairs/*/ :/

*Mohamed Zied Ouertani *(Corresponding Chair) University of Cambridge, UK

*Alain Bernard *Ecole Centrale de Nantes, France

*Vijay Srinivasan*, NIST, USA

This special session aims to bring together leading *researchers and industry practitioners *to discuss issues related to the management of information throughout the Middle-of-Life and End-of-Life phases of an asset. More importantly, this special session is part of an effort to create a community where these issues, ideas and solutions are shared.

Asset Lifecycle Management has been gathering importance in the past few years as manufacturers have started moving away from selling “products” to selling “services” or “solutions”, where management of sold assets throughout their lifecycle is part of their sales offering. Consequently, it becomes imperative to these manufacturers to gather useful information about their assets throughout their lifecycle for efficient management and control.

However, present day computer-based support systems for product development and product lifecycle management often consider issues related to cradle-to-grave asset management insufficiently. Product Lifecycle Management systems available today in the industry are mostly designed to manage information necessary for collaborative product design and manufacturing. Some of these systems lately have started considering information requirements for service and support. However, this is geared more towards ensuring the availability of static information such as disassembly diagrams, repair manuals etc. Management of dynamic information associated with the use and maintenance of assets throughout the lifecycle is still an open research issue.

You are cordially invited to participate in the special session on Asset Information Management to be conducted in conjunction with the International Conference on PLM.

*_Topics of interest_*

We solicit papers encompassing topics such as :

*Asset Information Management*

• Drivers for asset information management (legislative, business, etc.)

• Information and decision modelling

• Methodologies to determine information requirements

• Techniques and tools for asset information modelling (UML, Ontology, SOA, etc.)

• Asset information management systems ; Product-Service systems

• Closed-loop asset information management, Product-in-service feedback

*Quantifying the value of information and knowledge*

• Modelling (e.g. mathematical) of asset information and decisions

• Modelling (e.g. mathematical) of information quality

• The role of industrial information in decision making

• Tools and methodologies for quantifying information and knowledge value

*Technologies for asset information management*

• Asset data acquisition technologies (RFID, Barcode, WSN, etc.)

• Information architectures for asset information management

• Strategies for asset information management

*Standards to support asset information exchange and interoperability between information management systems*

*Industrial cases studies in asset information management*

We welcome contributions from building and construction, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, mechatronics, automotive, aerospace and ship building, and process industry, as well as from other domains.

*_Submission Instructiones_*

Authors are invited to submit abstracts to register interest in the Conference (this is not mandatory but is preferred), then original papers of up to 10 pages in length for review. Each paper will be reviewed by three members of the international Programme Committee, and those that are accepted will be published, by Inderscience Publishers, in the Conference proceedings and may be considered for publication in the International Journal of Product Lifecycle Management (IJPLM, www.inderscience.com/ijplm ). Submission instructions will be given on the PLM09 website : www.plm10.org . Authors should mention that their paper will be considered for the asset information special session. Enquiries could be directed to the corresponding session chair (mzo21@cam.ac.uk ).
